On June 8th, 2026, a bus full of bright, curious young people from the 22 Hands Up family pulled up to Northwest Louisiana Technical Community College for a day built around one simple idea: when you can see it, you can become it.
Our College & Career Tour was never just a field trip. It was a hands-on introduction to the real careers waiting for our youth right here in their own community. From nursing simulations to precision machining, electronics benches to process-technology control rooms, students didn't just hear about the future, they got to touch it, ask questions about it, and picture themselves in it.
Inside the Nursing Simulation Lab
The energy in the nursing wing was contagious. Students gathered around lifelike medical mannequins, hospital beds, and anatomy models as instructors walked them through what a day in healthcare really looks like. A favorite stop was the "Stages of Pregnancy" lesson, where our young people leaned in to examine fetal development models and learn the science behind growth and life, eyes wide, hands raised, questions flying.
Hands-On With Industry & Technology
Down the hall and across campus, the tour shifted into high gear. In the machining shop, students saw milling machines and CNC equipment that turn raw metal into precision parts. In the electronics lab, oscilloscopes traced live signals while instructors broke down the circuits that power the modern world. And at the process-technology lab stations, our youth got a close-up look at the pressure transmitters, control valves, and motor-control trainers that keep Louisiana's plants and industries running.
"We want our young people to walk onto a college campus and feel like they belong there, because they do. Today they saw careers they can reach, and that changes everything."
More Than a Tour
Throughout the day, students connected with professionals, explored campus resources, and discovered that higher education and skilled trades are within their reach. That's the heart of the 22 Hands Up mission, opening doors, sparking ambition, and reminding every young person that their future is full of possibility.
A heartfelt thank you to Northwest Louisiana Technical Community College, our chaperones, volunteers, and every supporter who made this day possible. Days like this don't just happen, they're built by a community that believes in its youth.
