Health & Safety Seminar
March 21st, 2026 - Minden Recreation Complex
A free community event for youth ages 11-18, teaching life-saving skills and exploring careers in healthcare and public safety!
On March 21st, 2026, 22 Hands Up hosted an impactful Health & Safety Seminar at the Minden Recreation Complex. This free community event brought together young people ages 11-18 for hands-on training in CPR, first aid, and emergency response education.
Local professionals including representatives from the fire department and doctors from Minden Medical Center led interactive demonstrations, teaching participants how to perform CPR and use a defibrillator. Beyond life-saving skills, youth were exposed to exciting career pathways in healthcare and public safety.
This event embodies our mission to mentor youth, build leadership and life skills, and promote physical and mental wellness. We are not just talking - we are doing!

22 Hands Up Second Annual Food Fest
Saturday, September 27th, 2025
Brothers and sisters, on this day, the streets of Minden, Louisiana, were filled with joy, excitement, and the spirit of unity. From the foundation laid by the founders of old, we see today the continuing work of Darrell and Sandra Hampton, who labor tirelessly for the advancement and empowerment of our Black youth.
The day resounded with song and celebration, a testament to our culture and heritage. Plates were abundant with delicious food and sweet treats, gifts were shared in the spirit of giving, and hearts were lifted with laughter and fellowship.
We were honored by the presence of our Mayor, who reminded us that community is strengthened when we come together, and our sponsors, like Brookshire's, who showed the power of standing for progress. The raffles, the music, the laughter—all spoke of a people determined to rise, to build, to shine.
Let this day remind us: we march forward, not just for ourselves, but for the generations yet to come. With hands lifted high, voices joined in song, and hearts filled with purpose, we proclaim: our children, our youth, and our community shall not be denied their destiny.

On November 1, 2025, 22 Hands Up hosted an unforgettable youth trip to Grambling State University for the epic showdown between Grambling and Alabama A&M. This wasn't just about watching a football game—it was about opening doors to new possibilities and showing our young people the excellence of Historically Black Colleges and Universities.
Every single seat was sold out as youth ages 11-18 experienced the energy, spirit, and pride of HBCU culture. From the electrifying marching band to the roar of the crowd, our young people witnessed firsthand what it means to be part of something greater than themselves.
These experiences plant seeds of ambition, education, and possibility. When our youth see excellence, they believe they too can achieve it. This is the mission of 22 Hands Up—to create opportunities that transform lives and build futures.
